Dear Friends,
A very Happy Easter to you all. This is a wonderful day of celebration for the event that is at the very heart of our faith. After a week of walking the way of the cross with Jesus, and for some people, a very long period of fasting and self-denial, today we are filled with joy because we know that Christ is risen, and that sin and death have been for ever defeated.
But what about those people who think that Easter is only about bunnies and chicks, and lambs gambolling in the fields, and chocolate eggs, and possibly a story about a man hanging on a cross? What do these things have to say to them about the truth of Easter? And how can we help them to see past the man on the cross, and come to an understanding of the truth of the new life that is the resurrection that we are celebrating?
Well of course, bunnies and chicks and lambs are symbols of new life, which may be why they have become so closely associated with Easter. And eggs symbolise the stone that was rolled away from the tomb. But at Easter the most important thing to remember is that the cross is empty. The story did not end in the tragedy of Calvary but in the triumph of the resurrection.

CHRIST IS RISEN – HE IS RISEN INDEED!

With love and blessings,
Marion
