Dear Friends,
Today is Trinity Sunday, a very important day in the life of the Church. It is also important for Holy Trinity, as it is the day when the Friends of Holy Trinity usually have their AGM after the service. However, this year of course, that will not be possible, so Gavin Reid (the Chairman of the Friends) has asked me to include the following note in my weekly letter.
“Dear Friends of Holy Trinity,
Because of the restrictions on congregations arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, the usual AGM of the Friends that would normally occur in the Sharp aisle on Trinity Sunday (7th June) will not take place. That meeting will be deferred until the autumn, when the recommendations on social distancing have relaxed further. My best wishes for your good health and fine spirits, in these challenging times, Gavin Reid (Chairman, Friends of Holy Trinity)”.
As I write it seems that we can look forward to a further relaxation of restrictions in the not too distant future. What a relief it is to be able to speak to people face to face out of doors, rather than through electronic means. However, for these relaxations to be effective and to progress, we must not rush, and must do our best to follow the guidelines that we are given.
Trinity Sunday is no less important for that, for it celebrates the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, the unity of the three Persons of God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is also the doctrine for which our church in St Andrews is named, and therefore a day of special celebration. Therefore, let us continue to show our gratitude to the NHS, to scientists and researchers, to food producers and distributers, and to friends and neighbours who are doing so much to help everyone to cope and stay safe. And let us continue to pray for all the people who are making this strange time so much more bearable.
With love and blessings
Marion
