holy trinity church

Dear Friends,
The story goes that when the famous English architect Sir Christopher Wren was directing the building of St Paul’s Cathedral in London, some of the workers were interviewed by a journalist who asked them ‘What are you doing here?’ The first said, ‘I am cutting stones for three shillings a day’. The second replied, ‘I am putting ten hours a day into this job’. The third said ‘I am helping Sir Christopher Wren to build the greatest cathedral there will be in Great Britain for the Glory of God’.
Sometimes we are all inclined to get bogged down in the intricacies of our own local situation. In the case of Boarhills, Dunino and St Andrews Holy Trinity, that could well be the running of our own churches, keeping our roofs watertight, our numbers up, and our finances in a healthy position. Whilst we need to do all these things we can tend to forget that there is a much bigger picture, and that we are part of something much greater than ourselves. We are a small part of the world-wide family of God. Yes, our part of it is important, especially to us. But every part of the family of God is important and needs to be supported in every part of the world.
Today we are pleased to welcome Rev Dr. Andrew Pomerville, the President of Louisville Presbyterian Seminary in the United States. His daughter is a member of our Choir in Holy Trinity and he is here to bring us greetings from across the pond. It would be so easy to forget our brothers and sisters in Christ both locally and throughout the world, and this visit is a timely reminder that all matter, and that all have a calling to build up the body of Christ in every corner of the world.
With love and blessings,
Marion
